14 Aug 2010: ANDY JACKSON (Melbourne)

We have an interstate guest! On Saturday 14 August 2010 Perth Poetry Club presents KSP's current writer-in-residence, ANDY JACKSON. Expect a dynamic reading of engaging, human poetry. Plus open mike. 2-4pm at The Moon, 323 William Street, Northbridge. Everyone welcome. Come and listen. Andy will do two sets, one in each half of the afternoon.

Andy JacksonAndy Jackson was born in Bendigo, central Victoria, and currently lives in Melbourne. His poetry explores the emotional, cultural and political dimensions of embodiment and identity, and has been published in a wide variety of print and on-line journals.

He has performed at the Australian Poetry Festival in Sydney, Queensland Poetry Festival, Newcastle Young Writers Festival and La Mama Poetica. He has received grants from the Australia Council and Arts Victoria, and a mentorship from the Australian Society of Authors. His collaborative performance with puppeteer Rachael Guy and cellist David Churchill was awarded the City of Yarra Award for Most Innovative Work at the 2009 Overload Poetry Festival.

He is currently a Cafe Poet-in-Residence through the Australian Poetry Centre, and is an emerging writer-in-residence at the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre. His most recent collection of poems, Among the Regulars, was released earlier this year by papertiger media.
